Celebrating Day of the Woman’s “Women in Horror Month” with half a dozen female horror icons whose pint you definitely wouldn’t spill.
Robin McLeavy as Lola in ‘The Loved Ones’
(Don’t forget to visit Day of the Woman for a month-long celebration of women in horror.)
Linda Blair in The Exorcist?? One of the greatest horrors ever made. Sure Reagan was possessed but I wouldn't want to meet her!! And would todays audiences run screaming from theatres like they did when this film was first released. Still a highly scary and creepy horror that set a benchmark.
ReplyDeleteAgree very much with The Ring character...creeped me out, and certainly one of the best women in horror film roles.
Brent.
Thanks for the comment, Brent. I wrestled with whether to include Regan, but I wanted this post to reflect female horror icons who revel in the fear they create and the mayhem they cause. You can argue that Angela in 'Night of the Demons' and Sadaka in 'The Ring' are equally victims of possession, but for me Regan is an essentially sweet kid who is an innocent victim of demonic possession; Sadaka was a soothsayer of disaster to begin with and Angela's gothic sensibilities lead to the seance which releases the demon.
