I must confess to not having seen 'The Hurt Locker' yet, but its Best Film and Best Director double whammy is a cause for celebration purely because it breaks 82 parochial years of male directors winning (and besides Kathryn Bigelow kicks ass as hard as any of her male contemporaries!); also, it took home the gold instead of 'Avatar' and I can't tell you how smugly delighted that makes me!
Now running two blogs: The Agitation of the Mind (titled after some words of wisdom by Werner Herzog); and Seduced By Starlight (celebrating sci-fi cover art the way it used to be)

After Kathryn Bigelows Oscar, this is the one I was most happy about! He defenetly deserved it.
