Ernest Borgnine

Ain’t many of Peckinpah’s cadre of men’s men left … and today we lost Ernest Borgnine.

“Walk softly, boys.”

Hi Neil,

Sad news, but what an immense body of work EB left behind. For me, Borgnine's presence alone could make even second-rate material a lot more fun to watch than it would have been without him. Despite numerous highly enjoyable turns in some great (and not so great) movies, my all-time favourite Borgnine moment will always be that little nod and giggle he gives to William Holden before the final shootout at the end of The Wild Bunch, as if to say, "Let's do it! Let's take it right to the end of the line!"

RIP.
